Abstract

A series of tests using the vigorous raspberry cv. Glen Clova showed that the optimum time to apply dinoseb-in-oil to kill the first flush of new canes was when they were 10-20 cm tall. Canes 30 cm or taller were not always killed and when canes were so tall there was a danger of damage to lower laterals of fruiting canes. The most suitable rate was 1 litre of a 25% formulation of dinoseb-in-oil in 100 litres water applied to run-off, normally using 850 to 1100 litres/ha.
