Abstract

In isolation tests using several different media and treatments, described, best results were obtained when strawberry roots were immersed for 1 min in 50% Teepol, cut into segments 7-10 mm long in sterile distilled water and plated on French bean (Phaseolus vulgaris) agar containing (mg/l) benomyl, 10; hymexazol, 50; pimaricin, 10; rifamycin, 30; and incubated at 15 deg C. As these amendments suppress rather than kill contaminants, subcultures from the edge of colonies were grown on similarly amended agar before transfer to non-amended agar.
